This page should not be speedy deleted because...
[edit]This page should not be speedily deleted because... this device is really well-know by radio amateurs. It is being used a lot with community projects. I have cited some of these articles as a source, to prove this is the case. It is written with a neutral point of view, it does not convince people to buy this device, as it also lists the FCC controversy. --Initramfs (talk) 16:18, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
Contested deletion
[edit]This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... this article is written from a neutral point of view, about a notable product produced by BaoFeng. This particular model has thousands of reviews just on Amazon for a single listing, it has been sold through different channels (especially Chinese web shops). This model is also the base of a lot of other transceivers under different brands. See [1] and [2]. It has been used in quite a lot of community projects, some of them are used as source in the article. --Initramfs (talk) 17:14, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
- I agree: the tone of the page is not unsalvageably promotional, so I have declined the speedy. I have concerns whether this HT is truly a notable product, which could subject it to normal (non-speedy) deletion processes. —C.Fred (talk) 17:46, 18 October 2019 (UTC)
- @C.Fred: Yes, thanks. I have added more links to prove its notability. If you agree with the notability, could you add your support to the following page? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/BaoFeng_UV-5R
Against deletion
[edit]This page should not be deleted because... this device is notable for it's significant contribution to the radio amateur community by creating an extremely low cost entry level product for new hams to communicate on VHF and UHF. The device also has a small controversy surrounding it's importation and sale in the United States due to FCC regulations. This controversy has also effected other handheld radios by the same company and led to reform in the sale and marketing of similar products. TheRedDragon23 (talk) 05:17, 29 October 2019 (UTC)
