Changed Date
[edit]I changed the date of introduction of the Banks dory. The article said they came into being in the 16th century which is inaccurate. I changed the date to the 1850's and provided a reference. I could provide a lot more references for this if needed. I added a detail about the dories fitting inside each other (nesting) since this is really the key point of these boats. Nesting allowed a lot of them to be stored on the decks of fishing schooners. Without nesting there would be no fishing schooner/small boat style of fishing that the Bank dory was used for. I removed the reference to the Baquentine. The barquentine is not at all typical of the boats used on the Grand Banks despite what the article said (with no references). A typical fishing schooner carrying Bank style dories would be like this one in the Wikipedia gallery --Bcooke99 (talk) 11:33, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

POV claims for Lowell's
[edit]The sources already in the article otherwise all support that mass production began at several locations, some before Lowell's. Anmccaff (talk) 17:25, 26 September 2016 (UTC)
Other types are now far more common, and were before the banker's heyday as well
[edit]Dory-fishing off of motherships declined beginning with WWI to near-nothingness by the '60s. Other dory types, working ad recreational, by contrast, have persisted. Anmccaff (talk) 05:56, 17 October 2016 (UTC)

Merge discussion
[edit]Since neither AfD nor DRV have jurisdiction over this page, and the closing administrator has already properly withdrawn from the subsequent content dispute, this is (one of) the place(s) to determine consensus for a merge. It is also interesting that no notice was posted on the AfD until the DRV discussion was complete. Unscintillating (talk) 02:14, 17 November 2016 (UTC)
