GA check

[edit]

I am working my way through the Good articles listed at Places; having a quick look to see if they still meet the Good article criteria. I have landed on this article. After I've had a quick look, I'll leave a note here indicating if I have concerns or not.

In general, I see the process as this: 1) Give the article a quick look to see if there are obvious issues: maintenance tags, unsourced sections, excessive media, etc, resolving any minor issues as I do so; 2) If I have concerns, open a GAR to see how serious those concerns are, resolving them myself if they are not serious; 3) If during the GAR I feel that there is significant work to be done (more than I can or am willing to do myself), I will put the GAR on hold and notify the main contributors.

My aim and intention is to keep the article listed - I would rather the article was improved and kept listed than the article is delisted. Where a delisting seems likely due to amount of work needed, and main contributors are unavailable or unable for whatever reason to do the work, then appropriate WikiProjects will be notified at least seven days before a delisting would take place. Green tickY Needed a little bit of copy-editing and sourcing for the people claimed to have been born in the town; but that was all. No other issues noted, other than a minor query regarding the external links. Do they comply with WP:External links? Are they needed? I've tagged the external links to be checked - the tag can be removed when the links are checked. SilkTork ✔Tea time 13:30, 1 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Pal.rem site

[edit]

With this edit, links to the two Pal.rem sites were removed with the edit-line "not appropriate per WP:EL".

I disagree. While I would not consider the Pal.rem site as WP:RS (except for the Hadawi-copies), it has several other useful purposes. For one thing, they often link/find old photos which can be used. The Pal.rem site also serves as a "check" on whether the 1922 and 1931 census data are correct.

Furthermore, the Pal.rem site has started to attract academic interest, it is discussed at length in Rochelle Davis: "Palestinian village histories" (Stanford University press, 2011), pp. XI, 65, 85, 103, 133, 161, 174, 239, 241, 249, 251, 253-54, 256, 267, 268, 275.

As such, I believe it qualifies under "Sites that fail to meet criteria for reliable sources yet still contain information about the subject of the article from knowledgeable sources", Cheers, Huldra (talk) 17:37, 8 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Arimathea?

Casanowicz offers the connection to Beit Rima. Anything firm so we can add it here? — LlywelynII 01:56, 22 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
