2015 constituency size no longer relevant

[edit]

@2a02:c7c:da23:cc00:75df:3b45:8ff1:2eb Sorry I didn't get what your edit reason was referring to at first. The reason information about the size of the constituency at the 2015 general election is no longer relevant is, well, quite apart from the fact that 2015 was almost a decade ago and there have been three general elections since then (really that piece of info should have been replaced after the 2017 general election with updated info if it was available), the boundary changes in 2024 significantly reduced the size of the constituency making information about the size of the pre-2024 constituency no longer relevant to the current constituency.

As the boundary changes were intended to make all 645 constituencies that weren't on the small list of "protected" constituency is of very similar size, there is no point in mentioning the relative size of any of these constituencies any more. If this sort of information about the size of the pre-2024 constituency is to be mentioned at all, it should be in a later section of the article, not the lead. There is maybe a case for mentioning how oversize the constituency was prior to the 2024 election and the fact that the 2024 boundary changes significantly reduced its size, but I'm not quite sure where that information should go. Apologies again for not getting your meaning at first. Offa29 (talk) 12:14, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
