The result of the move request was: page moved to Ban Pong, Chiang Rai. -- JHunterJ (talk) 17:21, 22 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ban Pong, Wiang Pa Pao → [[]] – As a follow-up to Talk:Mae Suai Subdistrict#Requested move, this is to try and gauge consensus for articles about places whose names are not unique. Since the aforementioned discussion resulted in including "Subdistrict" in the article title, should other articles be renamed as such for the sake of consistency? Also, what should the preferred method for disambiguation be? The choices are:

  1. Ban Pong, Wiang Pa Pao
  2. Ban Pong, Chiang Rai
  3. Ban Pong Subdistrict, Wiang Pa Pao
  4. Ban Pong Subdistrict, Chiang Rai
  5. Tambon Ban Pong, Wiang Pa Pao
  6. Tambon Ban Pong, Chiang Rai

I would propose to disambiguate by adding the largest geographic entity within which the name is unique. So in the example that might be "Ban Pong, Chiang Rai" if there is no other Ban Pong in that province. That way the qualifying name has the greatest chance of being known to the reader. It is a generic rule that could also apply to other entities than tambons and to other countries. −Woodstone (talk) 14:19, 16 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Agree with Woodstone.--Pawyilee (talk) 02:39, 21 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
