Pseudoscience

This article is filled with dubious claims - Infrared radiation that help circulation? Negative ions? Please! This material doesn't belong in an encyclopedia! I am tempted to delete most of this material, but I would like to see other editor's input before doing so. Observer31 19:17, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

I totally agree. Take this statement: " friendly properties to environment."??? Whats that supposed to mean. It would be good for this article to be cleaned up. --Dumbo1 12:19, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

I feel that more a more credible source is required for all claims pulled from the document "Manual for Bamboo Charcoal Production and Utilization" . Large-scale trimming

I have removed large chunks of the article - particularly in the "health benefits" section - an improperly sourced, non-encyclopedic, or just plain incomprehensible. More cleaning is needed, but I'll pause to see if any better sources appear shortly. -- MarcoTolo 04:38, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

Nit-picking edit.. I changed 400 chemical elements to 400 chemical compounds. Last time I checked there were only 118 elements, give or take. ElizabethGreene (talk) 13:27, 17 April 2009 (UTC)

Actually, I think the proper edit for this particular section should either be to simply remove it or at least remove 'Bamboo Vinegar' as the entry for Pyroligneous acid notes 'wood vinegar' (Pyroligneous acid) is not unique to bamboo charcoal production. Article still full of unreferenced claims

The article as it stands today still has a series of unsourced claims in it, especially with regard to the "uses" of the material. It looks like the article has already been scraped clean of many of these in previous years. I am going to try to finish (?) the job, as there appears to have been a pattern of adding claims that make this stuff sound like it is made of pixie dust and angel wings. It is charcoal made from bamboo... Am tempted to propose a merger into the article on charcoal, but "bamboo charcoal" appears to really be a "thing" in the far east (at least, in people's minds) so a merge seems inappropriate. A better move might be a rewrite that is a complete debunking of the unusual nature of the stuff, though that requires more chemical expertise than I have. KDS4444^Talk 07:23, 26 May 2015 (UTC)
