Fair use rationale for Image:Ballymena United.gif
[edit]Image:Ballymena United.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Politically-motivated edit
[edit]This article has come to the attention of an editor intent on imposing a personal view that the term "Northern Irish" is unacceptable. Under WP:BRD, editors are expected to come to the Talk page if they have been reverted. To continue to edit in these circumstances can be considered as disruptive. The text should be restored so as to remain consistent with other similar articles. There is no consensus that references to "Northern Irish" as a demonym for football clubs should be removed from the encyclopaedia. Mooretwin (talk) 12:24, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
- I know your edit is politically motivated thats why I removed the POV. BigDunc 12:26, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
- What edit do you "know" is politically motivated, and what is the alleged political motivation? There was no "POV" to remove. You are obliged to seek consensus for edits which you know are controversial. No such consensus has been established for your claim that "Northern Irish" is POV when applied as a demonym for a football club. Mooretwin (talk) 12:32, 18 December 2009 (UTC)

Foundation date and relationship to Ballymena F.C.
[edit]The article seems to be a bit inconsistent on the foundation date of the club and whether or not it was simply a continuation of Ballymena F.C.. The info box states "Founded 7 April 1928; 91 years ago" and the lead section of the article states "the club was formed as Ballymena on 7 April 1928". However the club history section states "Following the demise of Ballymena Football Club at the end of the 1933–34 season, three men, Simon McCrory, William McNeice and T. Moore, set about forming a new club in Ballymena with a view to seeking admission to the Irish League as Ballymena's replacement. Crusaders were also applicants for the vacancy, but at the League's annual general meeting on 20 June 1934, the new club known as Ballymena United was chosen unanimously". This would suggested that Ballymena United were a different club, albeit one formed on the demise of Ballymena FC. The honours section however records a league win in 1928-29, but notes that "Tournament was won as Ballymena". Thus there seems to be inconsistency as to whether or not they were the same club. This is also not helped by the fact that there is a separate article for Ballymena F.C., which seems to treat it as a separate club and which while noting it left the league 1934 states it was not wound up until 1936, which if true and not a typo would mean the two clubs (at least on paper) co-existed for a period. I realise that this is a complicated issue and one people are likely to disagree over, but I think as it stands the article is inconsistent and if there is no agreed position then it needs to address in the text that the foundation date and history before 1934 is open to interpretation.
