"As of the 2006 census, the population is 160,339." - probably together with Cork...


Ballincollig Castle (more correctly a tower house) is not built on an Indian burial ground. I have no reference for this but I'm quite sure I'm right.


interested to know where in Ballinollig was the T-Rex remains found or is this rubbish

Castle built date

According to this source (pages 3 + 5), Ballincollig was built in 1395, during the reign of King Richard II, not King Edward III. As the claim that it was built in the time of King Edward is not sourced, I will change it to give both the year 1395 and the name of King Richard II if nobody contacts me within a week from today with a contrary source.
