dispute discussion
[edit]anon-177.120.18.131 appears to dislike this version. Which part is the problem? The text about 2007 is well sourced, but they are old issue and may be in need of an update, or be removed. John Vandenberg (chat) 06:36, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
- I have restored most of this material; please discuss rather than overwrite the page with a bad page. John Vandenberg (chat) 22:56, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
COBS Bread
[edit]Why is the information about COBS Bread being removed all the time!? John Vandenberg (chat) 02:22, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
The information about COBS Bread being in the United States is removed because there are no COBS Bread stores in the United States. While there were a few COBS bakeries in the US, they now operate purely in Canada. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alec19 (talk • contribs) 05:03, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
- Great! Lets describe their stay in the US market, rather than remove all reference to it. How long were they in the US market? Why did they leave the US market? John Vandenberg (chat) 12:44, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
dblies.com
[edit]bdlies.com is an advocacy website. It definitely does not belong as the first external link, and .. unless it has been mentioned in the press, I don't think it belongs on this article at all. The issues raised on that website may be worth integrating into the Wikipedia page, if they have been mentioned in the media. John Vandenberg (chat) 23:01, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Dear John,
I would appreciate the link (to BDLies) being allowed to remain on Wiki. The BDLies site provides important information about franchising; not just about Bakers Delight. It has become a site where people can look to see what is happening in Australian franchising - particularly in regards to reform.
Bakers Delight has tried to shut down a former franchisees site before. Please see: http://www.wipo.int/amc/en/domains/decisions/word/2008/d2008-0006.doc
There are a number of former franchisees in dispute with Bakers Delight. Please see the following references regarding my own dispute.

I can provide a number of links regarding negative publicity regarding Bakers Delight to counter their 'positive' ones however I would prefer to just leave the link to the BDLies site and let people decide for themselves.
Regards,

- We avoid links to blogs. See Wikipedia:External links#Links normally to be avoided No. 11. However, if BDLies has been mentioned a number of times in the media, it may be appropriate to mention it. i.e. you would need to find more sources like this, which mention the Bakers Delight Lies website.
- If bdlies.com has useful information about Bakers Delight, we want to incorporate that information into the Wikipedia article about Bakers Delight.
- If bdlies.com has useful information about Australian franchising, we can incorporate that information into the Wikipedia article about Franchising#Australia.
- i.e. our objective is to build a self-contained knowledge base. We do not want to refer our readers to other websites, of unknown quality, in order to learn more.

As per discussion above, the link to bdlies has again been removed from the Bakers Delight page. Blogs tend to contain opinion, rather than fact, which while it can be valid, does not have a place in an encyclopaedia - which is, at heart, what Wikipedia is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Alec19 (talk • contribs) 03:38, 2 February 2010 (UTC)
Herald Sun source disappeared
[edit]The source "Bakers Delight to apologise on sick-leave sackings | Herald Sun" still appears in Google, but has disappeared off the website.
Google provides the following snippet:
“ | BAKERS Delight management will tell staff at a Sydney franchise that a workplace agreement stating they will be sacked if they call in sick is "completely ... | ” |

- That text was in the article off and on from 19 July 2007 through 12 January 2010 per this search result. — Jeff G. ツ 05:36, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
- I'm aware of that; my comment above is due to the text being removed from our article. When I tried to verify it, I was a bit surprised that it has been removed from the source. John Vandenberg (chat) 07:43, 12 April 2010 (UTC)
