Bains, Baines
[edit]Bain has variants Bains and Baines, which all have the same origins. I would suggest the article be expanded to include these variants too. Any objections? Redirects can be set up to this article for each of the variants Sionk (talk) 17:58, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
- I don't think that those two should be redirected here. This article is muddled enough as it is covering just one spelling (Bain), those two names have even more origins (like Welsh and Indian): [1][2]. How about we mention here that these names are sometimes etymologically related, but let them have their own main article, which sorts out the their various origins.--Brianann MacAmhlaidh (talk) 18:50, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
- I take your point. I'd never heard of the Welsh origins. And the Indian surname is new to me too. I'll look into creating a separate Bains and/or Baines (surname) article. By the way, your citation to Ancestry.com is directed to their 'Search' page, not to the surname definition for Bain. Again, on another issue, I think this article has gone way past "Stub" class, I've amended the box at the top of this page. Sionk (talk) 21:36, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
