This article should adhere to the gender identity guideline because it contains material about one or more trans women. Precedence should be given to self-designation as reported in the most up-to-date reliable sources, anywhere in article space, even when it doesn't match what's most common in reliable sources. Any person whose gender might be questioned should be referred to by the pronouns, possessive adjectives, and gendered nouns (for example "man/woman", "waiter/waitress", "chairman/chairwoman") that reflect that person's latest expressed gender self-identification. Some people go by singular they pronouns, which are acceptable for use in articles. This applies in references to any phase of that person's life, unless the subject has indicated a preference otherwise. Former, pre-transition names may only be included if the person was notable while using the name; outside of the main biographical article, such names should only appear once, in a footnote or parentheses. If material violating this guideline is repeatedly inserted, or if there are other related issues, please report the issue to the LGBTQ+ WikiProject, or, in the case of living people, to the BLP noticeboard. |

Gender Pronoun
[edit]she clearly identifies as a female, and on this page is addressed as such, shouldn't we change the gender pronouns used to describe her to a female from male. unless there is a major objection, I'll do it now. 69.120.101.92 (talk) 03:10, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
- Yes but he is still a male — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.108.141.140 (talk) 03:12, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
- How is she a male? because of the presence of male reproductive organs? There are many articles on this wikipedia that are linked in this very article that make it clear that gender is not a black and white matter. If she has gone through hormone therapy to appear as a female outwardly, and has merely not taken the final step of getting gender reassignment surgery, that still makes her female. to quote from the transgender page- only 1 in 4 transgender persons go beyond hormone therapy to gender surgery. Also, please sign your posts. 69.120.101.92 (talk) 03:26, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

Transphobic slur
[edit]On the mobile site, directly under the page title, are the words "American Shemale pornographic actress." The word "shemale" is generally recognized as a transphobic slur. I don't know how to edit it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.180.177.15 (talk) 18:30, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you for pointing this out. The mobile page caption is pulled from the description on Wikidata (item Q30585). I changed it to read: "American transgender pornographic actress." Rebbing 19:03, 1 February 2017 (UTC)
- As repeated at length in this article, "Any person whose gender might be questioned should be referred to by the gendered nouns, pronouns, and possessive adjectives that reflect that person's latest expressed gender self-identification.", according to this, shouldn't her choice in pronouns and gendered nouns be respected above all else? Or does wikipedia have a policy against the use of a transgendered persons gender self-identification should they perhaps offend other transgendered individuals who find that offensive? I think the rules explicitly state that their own self-identification should be used, and in this case, reverted to "shemale" — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.214.120.250 (talk) 06:44, 17 July 2019 (UTC)
Shemale is a noun, not a pronoun. President Lethe (talk) 03:24, 15 May 2023 (UTC)
lol
[edit]Intentionally not mentioning in the lead that Bailey Jay–a porn star–is trans is funny. It's like when white people are so scared of being called a racist that they insist they "don't see colour" and awkwardly beat around the bush when told to describe someone physically. Like it or not, in the porn world being trans is a defining characteristic. She obviously isn't bothered by this or she wouldn't advertise it in all of her work. Stop hiding your own insecurities and point out the damn penis in the room — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:A420:30:C874:9008:A250:2BE5:1130 (talk • contribs) 13:33, February 4, 2022 (UTC)
- I think "
In 2011 and 2012, Jay won the AVN Award for transgender performer of the year.
" makes it clear enough. EvergreenFir (talk) 18:38, 4 February 2022 (UTC)
