K Langloh Parker

[edit]

K Langloh Parker wasn't born in the 1840s, and her writing dates from the 1890s, after Ridley. Is the idea that her book talks of an account from before she was born, thus showing that accounts of Baiame predates Ridley? I can't get access of a copy of Parker to check. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.49.127.68 (talk) 10:09, 3 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

There was a discussion on the Baiame Sky father discussion page about merging that page with this one. I reproduce the discussion here for reference:

Article merge

[edit]

Couldn't this be merged into Baiame? Iridia (talk) 06:29, 19 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This article is more informative than the Baiame one. Clearly they're both about the same subject, and that subject is 'Baiame' -- the name given to him by the people who told his story; rather than 'Baiame sky father' -- an amalgam of a name and a (translated) attribute.
Thus, I agree this should be merged into Baiame. yoyo (talk) 01:04, 20 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Yes obviously they should be merged, but note that they are complementary, rather than duplication. The "Sky Father" article is specifically about the Baiame myth in the area around Mt Yengo, but the myth is also found throughout SE Australia. So they need to be merged with care. Given that there is widespread agreement that they should be merged, I've gone ahead and merged them, keeping essentially all content from both articles.RayNorris (talk) 07:23, 26 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
