Translation (from fr: Baerenthal)in progress. Tamarkot 15:41, 19 March 2006 (UTC)
Translation completed. If anyone knows anything about heraldry, could you take a look at that section please? Also, the tenses are a bit funny. I'd be greatful for some extra copyediting! Thanks. Tamarkot 16:52, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
- In 2014 I found several articles about the Barenthal factory that described it as a high quality machining factory whose capabilities were used during WWII to turn out machined parts for the military, esp planes. After the war it turned out high quality restaurant tableware.
- At some point not long before I was reading the articles in 2014, "China" was allowed to buy the company with the promise no jobs would be lost & business would go in as usual.
- However, not long after approval had been given and the transfer of ownership was complete, the new owners absconded in the dead of night with all the contents of the factory & left a strategy on the fire for the employees to find in the morning that they were out of work & the factory was no more.
- What happened to the military grade machines & other equipment remains a mystery because the new owners threatened the workers with severe retribution if they spoke of the situation with anyone and ultimately scrubbed all the stories about it after I discovered them & Tweeted about them. See this thread for other details:
