Baʽadan → Jabal Baʽdan – This article is mainly about a mountain called Baʽdan mountain I tried moving it but it says the name is in the blacklist? Could you please rename this article? thanks SharabSalam (talk) 13:58, 17 February 2019 (UTC) --Relisting. Xain36 (talk) 04:08, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
Oppose. Nothing else to disambiguate with? Although at the very least it should probably be moved to Ba'adan. PC78 (talk) 15:31, 17 February 2019 (UTC)
- comment Hi PC78, Thank you for your comment and sorry for tagging you. When I found this article I realised that it is about Baʽdan mountain. Usually it is spelled as Jabal Ba'dan or Jabal Baʽadan in sources (Jabal means mount in Arabic). I didn't know this request would be discussed in this way (editors would need to comment and vote) I thought it would be just a request, now I want to move to Jabal Baʽadan or Jabal Baʽdan. For the differences between (') and (ʽ) (I think) we use unicode character rather than punctuation in names as Kwamikagami explained here. Thanks--SharabSalam (talk) 08:00, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
- Fair enough, the new proposed name seems to be consistant with other pages in Category:Mountains of Yemen so I have no objection there. With regards to punctuation, the only relevant guideline I can find is MOS:PUNCT which says to use "U+02BF MODIFIER LETTER LEFT HALF RING and U+02BE MODIFIER LETTER RIGHT HALF RING"; this appears to be used correctly at Jaʿār for example, though in practice it seems to be very inconsistant. Looking at Category:Populated places in Hadhramaut Governorate, many articles appear to be using an accent mark (perhaps incorrectly?) while some use a normal apostrophe. This isn't my area of expertise though so you may need a bit more guidance. PC78 (talk) 10:59, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
- In transcribing Arabic, there are 2 consonant sounds involved here; the glottal stop and the ayin. Anthony Appleyard (talk) 14:33, 24 February 2019 (UTC)
- Support move to Jabal Baʽdan, for consistency with others of this type. bd2412 T 14:54, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
- Weak Oppose Jabal is kind of like an affectation? (I'm guessing it means "Mount"?) JorgeLaArdilla (talk) 18:04, 4 March 2019 (UTC)
