Removal of sentence

[edit]

I removed a sentence from the history section which had a citation needed tag and read as follows:

The Lady-Cougars played their first game in the Marriott Center on December 3, 1971.

That date is the correct date for the opening game of the new arena. However, it is virtually certain that the women's team did not play that night. Interestingly, the first game on the new court did not include Brigham Young. The BYU classic was held on December 3, 1971 but the first of the two games was St. Joseph versus Pacific. The source notes that the first appearance of BYU was "the second game with Kansas State". It is implied, but not explicitly stated that the second game was on the same evening. However, record show that BYU did play Kansas State on Friday, December 3, 1971.

Barring the extremely unlikely occurrence of a triple header, it is fair to assume that the first game of the women's team on this court took place sometime later. Given that this article is about the women's team, it seems irrelevant to discuss the men's game played in this arena so I chose to remove it.--S Philbrick(Talk) 00:16, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
