Requested move

[edit]
The following discussion is an archived discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: reverted as undiscussed and controversial. -- JHunterJ (talk) 11:11, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

BTC (disambiguation)BTCBTC currently points to Bitcoin, but there's no reason to believe that Bitcoin is the primary topic for the abbreviation "BTC". Bitcoin is one of many articles to which the abbreviation is applicable. Although Bitcoin is getting a lot of traffic, there's no reason to believe that most of this traffic is coming from "BTC" searchers.

I considered speedy-deleting the BTC page as an uncontroversial page move (deleting a page that is blocking a move), then performing a BTC (disambiguation)BTC page move (leaving BTC (disambiguation) as a redirect to BTC per WP:DABNAME). However, since there is at least one editor who believed the redirect to Bitcoin was more appropriate (see [1]), I figure best to bring it up as an RM.

I'm basically seeking to un-do the good-faith set of edits that moved and retargeted BTC. TJRC (talk) 01:33, 5 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
