This shouldn't be deleted. See https://www.linux-user.de/ausgabe/2008/12/039/index.html if you need proof of notability. I'm currently working on improving the page, albeit slowly because I don't have much time right now and I'm not very familiar with wikipedia's policies. strcat (talk) 05:22, 14 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Besides the fact that I've heard about it from many sources, I'd say that the citations in the article establish notability quite enough. I believe the notability template should be removed from the article. Arny (talk) 15:02, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
In my opinion, a second 3rd party reference (note that self-published blogs, wikis, etc. can't be used as references) would be enough to remove the notability tag. strcat (talk) 20:21, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I removed the notability template. Notability was well established here, feel free to add citations template if you think the article is bad sourced--Neo139 (talk) 13:43, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Space Invaders module section is not notable

[edit]

For what reason should a specific standard library written for this wm, not a central feature, and now removed, be considered notable - especially given the size of the overall article? I'll try to remember to delete this in a bit if nobody contradicts me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rainspeaker (talkcontribs) 00:38, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Awesome (window manager). Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Statement about EWMH compliance is misleading.

[edit]

The article statement "Implements freedesktop.org standards including EWMH, XDG Base Directory, [...]." literally quotes the front page of their web site, but that's effectively false advertising.

See this github issue
https://github.com/awesomeWM/awesome/issues/677

in particular this comment of a project member
https://github.com/awesomeWM/awesome/issues/677#issuecomment-181030933
that describes EWMH as "unimplementable".

Also see the commit message here:
https://github.com/awesomeWM/awesome/commit/9c020877dd1357d7d42a29526d3567586f3db330
which says: "Our implementation cannot be standard, and was not standard, so just stop using this EWMH cr*p."

The lack of support of _NET_WORKAREA, which the standard describes as a "must", still persists. See their EWMH implementation as of now:
https://github.com/awesomeWM/awesome/blob/master/ewmh.c

So you might want to augment the "implements [..] standards" statement with "some of them only partly", because the statement, as it is, is plain wrong. Direktorstellvertreter (talk) 14:22, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
