Discussion

[edit]

Here we can discuss things about this article: Avon Grove High School. For example how to improve it, like citing some sources for example.--Commander Keane 22:36, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Material moved from article: Band

[edit]

I've moved the "Band" section from the article into this Talk page. Several of the statements in this section do not have reliable citation, and sound like original research, which is forbidden on Wikipedia. Please do not replace this material without appropriate citations. Material below: -- Creidieki 01:15, 14 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Band

[edit]

Under direction of Dwight Weaver, they seem to win every parade they march in. Their field shows during football games are second to none, led by drum majors Evan Marble and Laura Head. However, their success goes unnoticed by most of the students in Avon Grove.

New Infobox

[edit]

I changed the infobox to Template: Infobox School2, an infobox more commonly used on school pages. In the changeover, some information did not fit in the new infobox. Feel free to add them back into the text of the article if you find a good place. I found where to put them. --omtay38 22:41, 28 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Founding Date

[edit]

The infobox, like the wall in the school, claims that Avon Grove was founded in 1743. However, this is really a different school. When was this Avon Grove founded? Noz92 (talk) 02:01, 25 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Dual Enrollment Content

[edit]

@Graham87: I believe that despite the user's actions on the Wiki that originally added the dual enrollment section content, it is still useful and properly cited, so I would like to add it back, at least parts of it, if that is alright with you as well, or any additional community consensus. AWESOMEDUDE0614 (talk) 11:07, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@AWESOMEDUDE0614: Nope, I'd object to that; it's all boilerplate text (i.e. it's incredibly general and doesn't say anything specific to this institution) and applies pretty much the same to almost all high schools in Pennsylvania. Graham87 13:15, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I could argue that with the extracurriculars but not the dual enrollment information and the funding rate that is properly cited to the Pennsylvania Department of Education website. AWESOMEDUDE0614 (talk) 14:14, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yes but (a) that's incredibly out-of-date and (b) it is not encyclopedic at all, just being a grant given by the state as part of a regular procedure. That information would also be of almost no interest to many people inside the school, let alone the general public. Amounts of money are rarely encyclopedic here unless they're commented on by third-party reliable sources; we've had an entire arbitration case about showing costs in medical articles, a far more important subject to the general population than some random school, which upheld our policy on the matter. Money values are only encyclopedic in articles like The World's Billionaires. Graham87 16:14, 29 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
