[edit]Removed this section: - The new Avonlink railcar (numbered WEA031/WEB041) is similar in design to the new Prospector railcars. The railcar has the capacity to carry 138 passengers. During initial planning it was envisaged the railcar would be narrow gauge to enable the train to terminate in Perth railway station, rather than city commuters having to transfer trains at Midland station. - possible copyvio SatuSuro 13:07, 14 October 2012 (UTC)
Unsure where that info (initial planning wanting a narrow gauge avonlink) came from, because I doubt it was ever actually considered, due to wanting fleet commonality between the prospector and avonlink/merredinlink. The other benefits of a standard gauge avonlink (higher speed, smoother ride) meant that it is doubtful that a narrow gauge avonlink would have ever been considered. They actually dont have to terminate at midland, as the standard gauge track continues to east perth station, where the prospector and merridinlink services terminate. But, likely due to cost or track capacity reasons during peak hour, avonlink terminates in midland. Not sure if my ramblings are helpful but that info seems like either someone was confused between avonlink and australind (very possible) or was repeating what an "old train driver once told them". It can stay out of the article, as it is almost certainly innacurate. 106.68.10.235 (talk) 03:05, 8 January 2019 (UTC)
