tones
[edit]The article mentions three tones used in the Roman rite. I assume that these are the three mentioned in the Liber Hymnarius:
- 1. For solemnities, whose notes for the first four syllables are re la-ti sol la-ti. This is the tone shown in the image in the article.
- 2. For feasts, fa-fa-mi re do re-fa-re
- 3. For memorials, re la-ti la sol
In addition, the Little Office of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which is also of the Roman rite, gives number three above, but it also gives an "Alternative tone":
- 4. Alternative, sol la-ti sol la-ti
It seems to me this fourth should be mentioned.
It would be nice to provide links to mpegs which demonstrate all four of these tones, unfortunately, all the recorded music I can find is invariable yet another example of number 1. Can anyone tell me where to find recordings of the other tones? Rwflammang (talk) 21:13, 7 May 2011 (UTC)

Historicity
[edit]It would be useful to add more precision on early usage, please, as the statement "The title, "Star of the Sea" is one of the oldest and most widespread titles applied to Mary" made must be viewed as hypothetical, lacking elucidatoiry attribution. A number of channels to investigate are the hybridisation of St Bridget's hagiography, a simple mis-spelling ("s" and "a" are similar characters), and some other form of migratory mythologisation, for example the barque images of a number of Egyptian deities. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.123.173.109 (talk) 08:00, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
