Well I think it may be interesting to distinguish between ASTN and GMPLS because ASTN is an architecture and GMPLS a set of protocol, moreover they depend on different standard bodies...
Definitely agree. GMPLS isn't necessarily optical, or at least is agnostic to it if it is passing either time slot information or cross-connect port information. Howard C. Berkowitz 13:58, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

I second the proposal. There should be separate pages for ASTN and GMPLS, as the article is saying that they are not identical.
The division between the two pages would be at the second paragraph: GMPLS consists of several protocols...
