I believe that this page is staunchly anti-generics. It cites and makes references to pages that promote brand name prescriptions. The page is heavy on quotes from the various vested interests which, thanks to the process of consultation, were able to defeat the planned automatic generic substitution. Producers of branded drugs naturally do not want generic substitution. Doctors' and patients' groups have no incentive to reduce the snowballing costs of healthcare. The savings made by generic substitution would, at minimal risk, free up NHS money to spend on saving lives elsewhere.
