Overall: @Maury Markowitz: A few issues: (i) there is a maintenance tag on the article, as it has no categories – this needs to be fixed; and (ii) could you provide a direct quote verifying it as the first software patent? In the cited article I read that "In 1968, Goetz applied for a patent for the program; in 1970, it was one of the earliest software product patents granted." Might be missing it, but I'm not seeing it explicitly referred to as the first, as opposed to one of the earliest.
