In Dutch, there isn't even a word for "teleprompter", everybody calls such systems "autocue". I wasn't even aware "autocue" is actually a brand until I read this article! Are there also other languages where "autocue" became a generic trademark? W3ird N3rd (talk) 17:17, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. English. It's a generic trademark in English, too. English also has no word for "Teleprompter," and neither does any other language, because it's a modern invention. "Teleprompter" is itself a genericized trademark. In North America, we use "teleprompter," in the UK, they use "autocue," and in other parts of the Anglosphere, they use one or the other or both.
