Source bias
[edit]Every "debate" article cited is from a far left perspective. Without passing judgement on the matter one way or another, readers should know that such a one-sided roundup of press articles is hardly "debate" to speak of.
They're mostly just what were the relevant top hits in google (most of which I added simply to bookmark them while composing the article). Frankly, "the right" isn't particularly interested in the issue, and in any case The Age and The Australian are mainstream/rightist sources. That said, feel free to delete redundant or misrepresentative articles, and indeed to reformat the whole "Debate" section in some other fashion; it's not a wikipedia standard, after all. It'd be nice to have others working on the article. — JEREMY 10:51, 29 October 2005 (UTC)
Stub template
[edit]I've removed the stub template, as the article is hardly a stub now. Sentinel75 09:48, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
Some Cleanup (specifically incitement)
[edit]Stuff on incitement is unreferenced and slightly inaccurate (e.g. by virtue of the Code there are no more common law criminal offences in Australia). It is my intention to clean this up sometime in the next week or so, add some references etc, unless there's any objection. I may, however, not get around to it, in which case I think what I've said is worth noting on the talk page. That and any curiosity can be easily satisfied by ComLaw or AustLII in most circumstances. mjec 11:54, 12 June 2007 (UTC)
Really, really out of date
[edit]This article has had an update template for at least 2 years, and some of the phrasing is 7 years old. With a ten-year sunset clause on the laws in question, is it really worth updating this page? Does it still have value? Or should we consider deletion? PabloZ (talk) 03:19, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
- The article says Labor promised to repeal the sedition section if elected to government, which of course it has been. Have the laws been repealed, and if not, has Labor had anything to say about this? - 124.191.144.183 (talk) 09:53, 18 March 2013 (UTC)
- The laws have been repealed. Neither the current Crimes Act nor Criminal Code even contain the keyword "sedition" at all. I'd recommend deleting the article. --115.64.60.4 (talk) 08:07, 12 December 2013 (UTC)
