[edit]Shouldn't it be Australaisian Math Cometition? It's been like that on the test papers since like 2003 or something. --antilived T | C 05:50, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
- To the best of my knowledge and http://www.amt.edu.au this does not appear to be the case. Regards,Blnguyen | Have your say!!! 05:52, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
- It was called the Australian Mathematics Competition when I last took it in 2004. Trevor Andersen 06:10, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
- It was "Mathematics" when I took it... in 1998. — Kimchi.sg | Talk 07:03, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
- I think Australasian is what us Kiwis call it... I got a Distinction and now suck and hate maths. oh well. --Midnighttonight 08:07, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
- In 1976 and 1977, the competition was called "1976(7) High School Mathematics Competition for the Burroughs Medal". In 1978, it went national as "Australian Mathematics Competition for the Wales Awards". It has always been "Mathematics". There are other competitions that may use terms like "Australasian" and maybe "Math". AMC for AMOC
[edit]- Although there is no publicly declared formula for the selection of students, it is possible that the results of the Australian Mathematics Competition are used in identifying students for further training by the Australian Mathematics Olympiad Committee.
Based on my own experiences, I think this is the case. Repeated high placings may be particularly important, as well as results from other mathematics competitions such as the University of Melbourne mathematics competition. -- B.D.Mills (T, C) 05:32, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
