NPOV

[edit]

This article more or less cites ABF press releases only. I'm not sure things like 'The ABF contributes to three national outcomes including strong national security, a strong economy and a prosperous and cohesive society.' belong in a wiki article. Correct. Feel free to hack at these kind of things as much as you want. The Drover's Wife (talk) 01:32, 29 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Amusing:

Operation Fortitude

[edit]

Please stop removing reliably sourced information on Operation Fortitude from the article. It was historically significant as one of the ABF's first public exercises and attracted a great deal of public attention. Thank you. --122.108.141.214 (talk) 06:33, 28 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Allegations of corruption and misconduct - needs a rewrite

[edit]

can we get some more context in this section? it reads like a POV complaint and without context of the country/laws in place has no context as to what makes all these relevant; def not wiki normal quality in this section. examples

[2019] ABF asks Saudi Arabian women travelling to Australia to seek asylum where their male guardian is, and denied entry into Australia.[22] - this one reads as a simple issue at the diplomatic level and not a misconduct. it needs to be flushed out to describe what was done wrong and impact it had.

[2017] ABF's most senior officer - commissioner Roman Quaedvlieg - is suspended pending an investigation into his conduct by the Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity (ACLEI) [23] reference to ACLEI is good but needs context. Conduct of? some back history be nice for those not loading his page directly.

[2017] Australian Border Force officers are found to be conducting unlawful searches of people and property[25] - no issues here; well written example even if a short line.

[2017] A reporter from The Guardian newspaper alleged that ABF was carrying out unlawful searches at airports and at people's homes[23] alleged is a dangerous work, was the claim substantiated/confirmed? would like to see some more info on this example just for context.

[2015] A Border Force officer confiscates a passenger's laptop and mobile phone at Sydney airport, demands the passcodes, then sends text messages without the passenger's knowledge or consent[26] - while good maybe a few lines about aus privacy laws needed to explain context and how misconduct occurred.

AFP and ABF officers are arrested after they helped bring drugs into Australia [27] year/month? maybe the drug in question and quantity to add context. remembering that law enforcement in aus has a zero policy yet in other countries a small personal supply of some drugs is legal.

I am aware I am VERY nit picking this article, however Wiki needs to assume a no local knowledge policy which is why this section reads so poorly in the context of article to me. it has relevance but needs to be flushed out more.

can we also get it updated to flow in year order? why is a 2015 event hidden in middle of 2 separate 2017 events? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 101.167.226.89 (talk) 05:51, 18 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
