Wheelbase
[edit]Does anyone have access to the official dimensions of the thing. I'm curious to know if they had to lengthen the wheelbase to accommodate the longer engine, since the original engine bay was presumably designed for the four cylinder 1622cc unit and it would have been uncharacteristically prescient for BMC to have built in enough length in the engine bay for a six cylinder unit mounted lengthways. But it would be nice (well, nice at least for me) to take these musings beyond mere speculation. And if you did, thanks for thinking about it. Regards Charles01 (talk) 16:23, 17 May 2016 (UTC)

The Freeway in New Zealand.
[edit]I lived in New Zealand in this perod and I never saw an A60 based Freeway.
Not with an Austin badge. Not with a Morris Badge.
Though I did know such things existed in Australia.
My recollection is that the ADO 17 was known as an Austin/Morris 1800 in New Zealand and (although at first I denied it) I do now recall seeing examples with Freeway on the back and there are at least two surviving examples (from 1967 and 1969) still registeresd in New Zealand as BMC Freeways. Perhaps Earlier or later examples were marketed as Moris/Austin 1800s.
The six cylinder 2200cc ADO17 never came to New Zealand. More's the pity. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.246.54.55 (talk) 05:23, 18 March 2018 (UTC)
