Page move
[edit]Leaving a note to say that I'm about to move this back to Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum. That was the title from the article's creation in 2009 until it was moved without discussion in 2016. The museum website describes it as a "memorial and museum", but I can't find evidence that it has changed its name. The contact page says "Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum". The copyright page says "This website belongs to the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum". And it still publishes as "Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum"; for example, see My Path to Freedom (2019) at WorldCat.
I'll move it back myself if I can do it without the tools. Otherwise I may ask at WP:RM. SarahSV (talk) 17:48, 7 January 2020 (UTC)
- Before you start casting WP:Aspersions around, SlimVirgin, there was a lengthy discussion on another user's page about the name being "Auschwitz Birkenau Memorial and Museum", which I'm not going to dig around and find when the evidence is clear: see this archived entry as clear evidence of the name having being "Auschwitz Birkenau Memorial and Museum" on the title page. Considering that this has been the consensus name for years, and that I can't see where you're reading "Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum" (for publication, it's known as a Byline), perhaps it is you who should put the move to a move review. Iryna Harpy (talk) 06:15, 8 January 2020 (UTC)
- Hi Iryna Harpy, as I wrote above, the website describes the museum as a memorial and museum, but that is not its name. To move this title, you would need to hold a WP:RM discussion, which would be closed after seven days. I've posted links above showing that it calls itself "Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum". See the copyright page in particular; that is its legal name and what it publishes as—not a byline. What made you think it had changed its name? SarahSV (talk) 06:27, 8 January 2020 (UTC)
- A) We're going back to 2016, and I honestly don't have the time, inclination, or general where-with-all (chemo) to start such an intensive search. You're welcome to rename it. I'm just trying to stick to a little gnoming when I can get to a computer. My apologies at the initial affront. I reacted badly. Season's greeting and the best of health to for 2020! Iryna Harpy (talk) 09:33, 8 January 2020 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks. If I come across anything on its site that shows a name change, I'll give you a shout and we can open an RM. SarahSV (talk) 16:23, 8 January 2020 (UTC)

add part in recent events: disrespectful visitors
[edit]I think it is important to add a section discussing visitors who have been disrespectful to the museum by posing and adding the news story about the lady who got arrested for disrespect. I can't find a good source so if one of you legends could help find a "reliable" source I'd appreciate. Cheespeasa1234 (talk) 02:48, 18 January 2023 (UTC)
