Island or peninsula?
[edit]From Google maps, it appears that the "island" is actually a peninsula, though it seems that people do refer to it as an island – maybe it was an island in the past? Does anyone know (or, more to the point, have a source for) the history of this? Dricherby (talk) 14:40, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- I have been checking this and the name is Aughinish Island. But you are right that by now it is a peninsula. The estuary of the Shannon surrounds it for about 80/90% but not the full 100%. I will correct this. The Banner talk 18:39, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
