Attempted assassination of Nancy PelosiAssault of Paul Pelosi – We don't have enough details to be sure that this was an attempted assassination of Nancy; most coverage focuses on what actually happens, which was an assault on Paul Pelosi. Elli (talk | contribs) 19:52, 28 October 2022 (UTC)

User:Iamreallygoodatcheckers made the move already, except they used the word "attack" rather than "assault". A. Randomdude0000 (talk) 20:08, 28 October 2022 (UTC)

Qanon

Putting Qanon in "Background" looks a bit odd. Jack Upland (talk) 06:33, 29 October 2022 (UTC)

Agreed, not super relevant. At least, no more relevant than any of the other conspiracy theories DePape pedalled. – Anne drew an hour ago

Relevance of Musk buying Twitter to the attack?

"The attack was staged to coincide with the midterms and Elon Musk's takeover of Twitter." This comes off as WP:CRYSTALBALL as it assumes the assailant's actions were connected or relevant to Musk buying Twitter when the claim is unincited in the lead I couldn't find any source or statement in the body either. Assailants motive including influence by far right conspiracy theories would be much more relevant to the lead than crystalball statements. -UtoD 08:18, 29 October 2022 (UTC)

It has been removed, but — yes — I believe it is uncited speculation.--Jack Upland (talk) 08:34, 29 October 2022 (UTC)

IP vandal

We have a persistent IP vandal. @Feoffer and Morbidthoughts: having recently edited the page, are you around at present to help deal with this? I’ve alerted WP:AIV. Bondegezou (talk) 08:47, 29 October 2022 (UTC)

I noticed this and have semi-protected the article for a week. There must be a massive push out there somewhere to declare this attack as "staged", "false flag", "fake hammer", etc. -- MelanieN (talk) 17:14, 29 October 2022 (UTC)

Trump comments

The article currently states Trump hasn't commented on the attack but he has since stating that it was a terrible thing 2603:8081:2E00:D0E:81F7:D8AD:BE3:9777 (talk) 02:36, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

Thank you, 2603. Someone has already updated it. starship.paint (exalt) 03:19, 1 November 2022 (UTC)

Hammer

According to this, the police found the assailant and Mr. Pelosi wrestling for control of a hammer. Our current text suggests the attacker grabbed the hammer when the police arrived. Jack Upland (talk) 03:14, 30 October 2022 (UTC)

I agree. This Politico article and many other reliable sources describe the two men "struggling for a hammer" when the police arrived, and that the hammer blows to Pelosi's skull were witnessed by police officers. Cullen328 (talk) 03:26, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
