6x size reduction

[edit]

When Bob and Sally escape, he asks her how far it is to Franz's office. She says it's a mile away; he then says that that makes it about six miles at their current size. Clarityfiend (talk) 22:31, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There are at least four major problems with that reasoning:
1)It assumes that Bob was making a precise mathematical calculation rather than merely pointing out that it takes them a lot longer to get anywhere at their size.
2)It assumes that Bob has some means of determining their size that is more accurate than any means available to the viewer.
3)Franz repeatedly passes off the miniaturized people as dolls. An adult reduced to one sixth their normal size would still be too large to pass off as a doll.
4)This one is actually a dozen or so problems that can be summed up as one: Through juxtaposition with ordinary objects such as doorknobs and Franz's hands, the film repeatedly establishes that the miniaturized people are much smaller than 1/6 normal size, closer to 1/25 normal size.
And on top of all that: How is the exact rate of size reduction relevant to the article?--Martin IIIa (talk) 23:59, 24 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
