Merger Discussion

[edit]

After several years after I created the page on the Mexican horror film The Aztec Mummy, I discovered this article. Unfortunately, this film is a re-edited and dubbed version of the previously mentioned film. So I'm thinking that this should be merged with that article as a result. A major reasoning behind this decision is that not only is it for the above mentioned reasons but that there isn't enough shown here that gives any reason why it should remain a separate article. It should be merged into The Aztec Mummy article in as a section like what I did with the parodies and short film sequels of The Hideous Sun Demon in the article of the same name.--Paleface Jack 15:44, 17 April 2018 (UTC)

Please do not merge the two films into one entry. The Americanized version only contains about 25 minutes of footage from La momia. The rest of the film is all new footage filmed years later by Jerry Warren. If you take out the sacrificial dance scene from Mayan Mummy, in fact, almost nothing of the original film remains! They are two very different movies, with different cast and crew members. Very little footage in common. This is a case similar to the Japanese film "HALF HUMAN", which see. You'll understand what I mean if you look up Half Human.68.129.15.71 (talk) 19:27, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Half Human still only has one article. The films are different, but the production history on the new version is very small and not really deserving of its own article. Personally I'd say combine and clarify this information. Andrzejbanas (talk) 19:29, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Quote from Book Source

[edit]

The book "Terror on Tape" states in its intro "In addition to a plot summary and review, each of the listings specifies the current distributor, year of original release, MPAA rating where applicable, running time, director, cast and star rating." It specifically states the dates shown in each listing is specifically "the year of original release". (Mayan Mummy is listed as "ATTACK OF THE MAYAN MUMMY" (1963, NR,77 min.))68.129.15.71 (talk) 17:27, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The book "Psychotronic Encyclopedia" states in its intro "How to use this Book" as follows: "All films reviewed in this book are listed alphabetically by title...Below the title, the year of the film's release is given." It very specifically says year of the film's release. (Mayan Mummy is listed as "ATTACK OF THE MAYAN MUMMY 1963 Medallion (Mexico/U.S.) B&W"68.129.15.71 (talk) 17:39, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Also if you look at the TCM page I cited as a source, it says in the material midway down "Release date 1963" specifically.68.129.15.71 (talk) 18:17, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
