How does this 36month experiment relate to other clocks? Is it anticipated this will set any records?
Also I wonder how this project relates to gravity probe b in terms of general relativity measurements.
"fountain" clock?
[edit]Atomic fountain clocks derive their name from the fact that they launch the caesium atoms upwards in a parabolic arc, interrogating them once when they go up and once when they get back down. In microgravity, this concept is meaningless, so it makes no sense to apply this term to the atomic-clock component of the device. Moreover, the project paper (https://doi.org/10.1016/j.crhy.2015.05.002) draws that distinction several times, describing PHARAO as separate from fountain clocks.
I'm removing that reference until a suitable argument for retaining it is brought up. Episanty (talk) 00:03, 28 November 2018 (UTC)
