Spelling

[edit]

I am correcting the spelling of "Guy Forsyth". There is no 'e'. See: GuyForsyth.com.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Your Fuzzy God (talkcontribs) 06:20, September 2, 2006

Stanley Smith returns to the Spankers

[edit]

As of Sat. March 28, former spanker Stanley Smith is back with the group. Also on this night, founding member Christina Marrs returns from maternity leave. Rockinredneck57 (talk) 04:30, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As of July 25, 2010, Wammo left the band, with no public reason given. The band's manager released the following via email on July 21, 2010: There will be a more detailed announcement soon, but it was decided a few days ago that the Spankers will come to an end after this year. We will try to play one more show in all of our favorite cities and will announce a complete farewell concert schedule and more detailed info about our plans in the next few weeks. Starting in Corpus Christi tomorrow, all shows are now part of "Spanks for Everything: The Farewell Tour. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.232.119.134 (talk) 04:23, 2 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Breakup and Final Tour

[edit]

The birth of Christina's 3rd child and Wammo's first in 2009 would have an impact on the band's future focus and changed the touring dynamic in a new direction.

On July 21, 2010, John Redie, Christina's husband and long time band manager, released the following statement vial fan email: There will be a more detailed announcement soon, but it was decided a few days ago that the Spankers will come to an end after this year. We will try to play one more show in all of our favorite cities and will announce a complete farewell concert schedule and more detailed info about our plans in the next few weeks. Starting in Corpus Christi tomorrow, all shows are now part of "Spanks for Everything: The Farewell Tour. Wammo, citing legal advice, refused public comment.

A documentary charting the band's history is scheduled for release in the Fall of 2010.

Point of View pushing

[edit]

Recent edits on this article, particularly the "Breakup and Farewell Tour" subsection, have included statements about individuals that are unreferenced and amount to breaches of the WP:NPOV policy, especially relating to living persons. These have been reverted; please leave them that way. AllyD (talk) 18:38, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This issue had been dormant for a while, but today I made another revert. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 16:17, 10 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I love me some Spankers, but the article reads like a promotion piece right now -- added a request for POV review. MinervaK (talk) 00:10, 13 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I jumped in and did some defluffing and reorganizing, I think most of what it needs now is better referencing. Feel free to point out any spots I may have missed. Earflaps (talk) 00:53, 14 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Marrs

[edit]

Christina Marrs was always my favorite of the members of the band. I am looking for information on her parentage/kinship. Both Jim Marrs & Texe Marrs are also from Texas, Texe having taught at UT at Austin, and at least one of his ministries was hq’d there. Possible coincidence, but the spelling of their surname does not seem to be that common. Does anyone know? Possibly she married a Marrs, and quite possibly she was not from Austin at all, but the music is political enough that I feel sure she is at least aware of Jim & Texe. Ragity (talk) 23:18, 22 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Texe’s obit doesn’t list her among many survivors, and there seem to be more “Marrs”, esp “Jim Marrs”, than I would have expected.
