Citation
[edit]As the article states: "ADS also tracks citations for software (assuming the citations are formatted correctly), which can help research software authors for whom citation rates are an important measure."
Since the link to show citations to ASCL entries has been deleted by Wikipedia editors several times, I include it here so you don't have to trust that the statement above is true nor to query ADS yourself for verification. Owlice1 (talk) 23:53, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
References
[edit]Please stop deleting links to internal and external sources. You might not find it useful to have links to other similar efforts, but for fairness, this entry should include them. Also, please stop deleting links to references; sources should be cited, and these links are citations to those sources. Thank you.

- Hi Owlice1. Per the guideline on external links, external links "should not normally be used in the body of an article". If you want to cite information then please cite it as an actual reference. Sam Walton (talk) 18:10, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
I have been citing references; you, however, keep deleting them. Please stop doing so. Furthermore, I was in the midst of an edit to add more references when you undid some of my previous edits, so I have been unable to save them properly. You had also deleted the "External links" section; unless you are an active user of the resource, you are unlikely to know (and clearly do not know) what external links are helpful.

- We're talking about two different things here, though they're easy to get confused. Inline external links refers to the single square bracket links which link text in the article. Referencing refers to, as described at WP:REF, the process of referencing information to reliable sources, with the sources listed at the bottom. Sam Walton (talk) 19:40, 18 February 2015 (UTC)
Yes, I know the difference, as my use of both types of links might have indicated, but thanks.
SkySoft Astronomical software directory and the Astrosim Astro-Code Wiki should be listed as other similar efforts; that information -- similar efforts -- is useful to those interested in the ASCL and the work that it does. That information was there when the article was first approved, I had restored it after you'd removed it, and now that section is gone again and this entry is poorer for the absence of that information. It's also poorer for the lack of useful external links.
