Astolfo in Fate
[edit]The "Secret" claims are blatant in-character jokes that the profiles go along with for the sake of humour, and not statements of transgenderism.
The character refers to himself as male in dialogue (using the personal pronoun 僕 (boku) which is typically masculine gendered[1]), and all the other characters also refer to him as such. The official Fate/Apocrypha materials[2][3] (the sources that were removed when adding claims of transgenderism to the page) also refer to him as a male who picked up crossdressing to appease Roland when he had lost his reason, and the authors also unequivocally speak of him as a guy who crossdresses and nothing more than that.
I have no qualms with you having personal headcanons about his gender, but do not push them as fact when nothing goes that way other than a joke-y profile where he crossed out his gender and gender-neutral language that simply goes along with the joke, playing into the otokonoko stereotype wherein he appears to be female on first looks.
The character is male, official materials refer to him as a male who crossdresses for the sake of someone else, the authors refer to him as a male who crossdresses, and he himself speaks with pronouns that a boy typically would and simply states that he dresses like a girl because he likes cute things[4]. 93.10.92.31 (talk) 18:14, 29 March 2020 (UTC)
- This article is about a character from medieval literature, not from an anime cartoon... Gunther878787 (talk) 15:17, 2 November 2021 (UTC)
- The article included an "Other Media" section about the anime character, which was subject to edit wars for a while and which has since been deleted entirely. JoeJoeH (talk) 15:54, 2 November 2021 (UTC)
- True. "Fate" ironically \ jokingly depicts Astolfo as lacking a helmet and some armor plates while still wearing the rest of paladin's attire. The schosse stockings are used as a mean to hold leg armor in place. Even the funny pink hair with ribbons could have been a huge hackle\plume reference all along. - I mean, i legit intended to DELET THIS, but that "Astolfo effect" research got me - it was interesting to describe what the fi' char' is. BackwingsuitThAw (talk) 21:10, 24 June 2023 (UTC)
