US centric?
[edit]Thank you for creating this article. However, it currently reads like at article aimed only at US readers and only refers only to US legal system. I suggest that it needs to be generalised to cover other jurisdictions and include references to international sources (OECD? WHO? etc). This would make it much more useful. PeterEastern (talk)

Merge proposal: Following distance into Assured clear distance ahead
[edit]I propose merging Following distance into Assured clear distance ahead. They seem to be about the same topic (although the current format of Following distance is much easier to digest). Sauer202 (talk) 15:31, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- I lightly disagree, though ACDA is the general rule and thus includes following distance, ACDA might be too broad compared to following distance to warrant the merge. ACDA seems to be more of a legal concept, while following distance is not (it might be regulated but exists regardless of law). ACDA also already has this section: Assured clear distance ahead#Dynamic "following" distance. Regardless, ACDA needs extensive copyediting for clarity, readability, and tone. (read for ex: "In this specific regard, jurisdictions which grant drivers the liberty to be fools from their own folly, are also condoning the collateral damage and life loss which is expected to occur.") - Oppose, given that Assured clear distance ahead is unduly technical, and would swamp the clear, focussed content in Following distance. That is, readers are best served by having the content remain separate. Klbrain (talk) 18:03, 14 November 2024 (UTC)
