Recognised in box
[edit]Do you think we should add in the recognised in box in the members section? Wonderwizard (talk) 23:35, July 7 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Wonderwizard, I would suggest NO. Cowdy001 (talk) 22:54, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

[edit]In the section entitled 'Members', the two lists of IFs identified as 'Billiard (other federations)' and 'Boules (other federations)' do not appear to have membership of ARISF either directly or indirectly. Cowdy001 (talk) 12:39, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
- Paragraph entitled 'Billiard (other federations)' deleted as the relationship of the listed organisations to WCBS (the ARISF member representing billiard sports) is discussed in World Confederation of Billiard Sports article. Cowdy001 (talk) 21:52, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
- Paragraph entitled 'Boules (other federations)' deleted as the relationship of the listed organisations to CMSB(the ARISF member representing Boules & kindred sports) is discussed in Confédération Mondiale des Sports de Boules article.
- Remove 'tag'. Cowdy001 (talk) 22:13, 16 July 2013 (UTC)
- Paragraph entitled 'Boules (other federations)' deleted as the relationship of the listed organisations to CMSB(the ARISF member representing Boules & kindred sports) is discussed in Confédération Mondiale des Sports de Boules article.
Relationship to the Olympic movement
[edit]It needs to be noted in the article and referenced to a reliable source that just because a sports body is recongnized by the IOC as the governing body of that particular sport and thus qualifies for memebership in this organisation, it in no way qualifies that sport automatically to be or to become an Olympic sport. Many of the sports listed here have never been included in any Olympic games whilst others have been at one time or another, in some instances quite long ago (for example, it has been about a century since there has been an Olympic tug-of-war competition, and baseball and softball are not currently Olympic sports even though their current governing body was formed precisely to speak to the IOC with a single voice and qualify for membership in this group at IOC's insistence). 2600:1004:B118:340:3D44:9C78:2B85:F6AF (talk) 03:24, 9 February 2015 (UTC)

- Hi InternetArchiveBot, I have set the checked parameter to failed for the following reasons. Firstly, the modified link for the list of members has been replaced with a new citation linking to the current list of members which is now on different page on the ARISF website because archived link to too old (i.e. 2012) and as the membership has changed since that year as evident by the article's revision history. Secondly, the link to Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) has been replaced because it would not open in two different web-browsers and as what is required (based on what has been done for the other members) is a link to the FIA's homepage.
