Comma
[edit]Why is there a comma in "Rediffusion London" when there isn't one in their logo? PMA 14:39, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
- Where would you put the comma in their logo? I have the 1967 ITA Yearbook in front of me here. It says: "Rediffusion Television Limited is the company which, under agreement with the Independent Television Authority, provides the television programmes in London from Monday to Friday. The company's working title is Rediffusion, London." Also, the announcers usually made a deliberate pause when saying the name, producing "Rediffusion, London". ➨ ЯEDVERS 14:43, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
Date of change
[edit]Does anyone have *definite* proof (TV Times or similar) that the company changed its name on 30th March 1964? I always thought it was one week later - Monday 6th April (as is stated on the TV Ark page linked to here). The Times listings change to state "Rediffusion" rather than "Associated-Rediffusion" on Tuesday 7th April; my guess is that someone at the paper had seen it on the Monday, realised that it had changed, and the listings were changed accordingly.
Mind you, if it *was* 30th March (Easter Monday, though - perhaps not a likely day to launch a new identity) that would be mindblowing - three days after the last Children's Hour and what I think was Raymond Glendenning's last radio commentary, and the day after Radio Caroline started (and Peter and Gordon's "A World Without Love", the beginning of Wienerisation, hit the Top 20). I've revised that bit of the page cautiously. RobinCarmody 06:07, 21 August 2006 (BST)
