I was hoping to find information about Asian Americans in music, knowing notable Asian Americans in Music (Deftones, Karen O, Japanese Breakfast). Instead, the ENTIRE article is about discrimination against Asian people, and why Europe is better (typical Wikipedia editor anti-American cultural bias), with cherry-picked opinion articles used as sources. Seriously, what is the justification for having every category wildly underwritten and lacking in any specific discussion of Asian Americans in music, except for the section that emphasizes racism against Asians? 76.157.42.81 (talk) 01:08, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We write articles as to what sources say about a topic. This plays into the weighting of sources; when something is more prominent across sources, we give it more due weight in the article writing. The discrimination against Asian and Asian Americans, especially in the music scene, is something that is important to the topic, so it should be discussed. If you feel otherwise, you're free to highlight specific places in the article and their sources you disagree with, as opposed to blanketing the entire article as being useless and "needing to be rewritten". It isn't something important to the topic enough for there to be no information that reflects the article's title: there are plenty of internationally, nationally, and/or regionally notable American artists of Asian heritage to discuss. You don't bother to. You cite foreigners in the lede, and neglect to discuss Asian Americans in music at all.
Discrimination is one subject - you are being disingenuous to suggest that any source on Asian Americans in music focuses completely or overwhelmingly on discrimination and not at all on the contributions made. 76.157.42.81 (talk) 01:15, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I believe you're misreading the article and its title. This is not a list of Asian Americans in the music scene; it is about the general topic. And, as stated, the general topic involves the discrimination of Asians and Asian Americans. Saying it's not important to the topic is also a subjective statement when we have sources that disagree with that.
The edits made to this article as well as this talk page discussion seems to be a common thread across edits and messages made from this IP, which leads me to believe you're not exactly being genuine when you raise these concerns of "anti-American" and "Eurocentric/Europhilic" POV-pushing, as you're doing the same just in the opposite direction. If you have genuine concerns for the article writing, and not just the same issues you've been previously IP blocked for in the past, you're welcome to bring them up here as opposed to blanketing the article as bad. Otherwise, please refrain from this kind of behavior. Thanks. SmittenGalaxy|talk!01:21, 8 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
