Page Improvements
Hello my name is Putri and I’m a member of APP’s communications team. I am new to the Wikipedia community and thank you for having me. I have familiarized myself with Wikipedia’s article policies and hope to suggest to you a series of edits that will help improve this page, making it as accurate and objective as possible. I look forward to working with you.
The first edit I would like to point out refers to the Information Table at the right.
Please consider these corrections: 1. "Type" should be changed to "Corporation" 2. "Industry" should be changed to "Pulp & Paper" which is the common reference to industry (not Paper & Pulp). See the industry trade publication here for reference: http://www.risiinfo.com/pulp-paper/magazine/ppi/archives?archType=PPI&Type=PPI 3. The chairman name is misspelled as you can see from reference in the first paragraph of the article. Change "Eka Cipta Widjaja" misspelling to "Eka Tjipta Widjaja"
Also, here are additions to consider for the table: 1. Area served: Worldwide 2. Products: Packaging, Paper, Tissue See here: http://investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/private/snapshot.asp?privcapId=345755

Hello again. As there does not appear to be any questions related my above remarks and sources, I helped update the page accordingly. If there are outstanding thoughts or questions on these table edits, please feel free to message me.
Also, I would like to suggest valid sources and points of clarification for the Introduction paragraph to help improve its accuracy.
1. APP is not based in Singapore but is based in Jakarta, Indonesia. Source Bloomberg Businessweek: http://investing.businessweek.com/research/stocks/private/snapshot.asp?privcapId=345755 2. The first citation appears to be a broken link. This information can be sourced to Greener Package here: http://www.greenerpackage.com/corporate_strategy/app_qa_asia_pulp_paper_speaks_sustainability “Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) is the world’s third-largest paper company, with 12 major facilities and a number of smaller operations in Indonesia and China. The organization has a current annual combined pulp, paper, and packaging-grade capacity of more than 15 million tons per year, and markets its products to more than 120 countries across six continents.” 3. The second citation appears to be sourced from APP. And the third citation also appears to be sourced from APP, and is a broken link. I understand this may interfere with Wikipedia’s “No original research” policy. I believe the sources noted above will help validate this, as well as this article from UPI: http://www.upi.com/Business_News/Energy-Resources/2013/02/05/Asian-paper-giant-to-halt-deforestation/UPI-67471360091418/ “APP's group of pulp and paper manufacturing companies in Indonesia and China have an annual combined pulp, paper, and converting products capacity of more than 18 million tons. APP-Indonesia and APP-China market products to more than 120 countries on six continents.” Aldila Putri (talk) 07:45, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
Hi again. I would like to suggest adding a section called “Sustainability Roadmap Vision 2020 and Forest Conservation Policy”. Also, to ensure the page remains up to date with the latest information, following are additions to this section with several verifiable sources.
On June 5, 2012, APP announced its Sustainability Roadmap Vision 2020 plan, in which the company pledged to be wholly reliant on raw materials from plantations and that all its suppliers must operate by High Conservation Value Forest (HCVF) standards by 2015 following independent audits. As part of the company’s Roadmap, on November 14, 2012 APP announced that all nine of its Indonesian mills had received SVLK timber legality certification, which is the Indonesian Timber Legality Assurance System – a rigorous chain of custody process designed to ensure the mills only receive and process timber from legal sources, and that all products exported from the country are traceable to verifiable points of origin. APP was the first Indonesian business to fully achieve SVLK compliance, which allowed the company and the country of Indonesia to be recognized by the European Commission as importing legal fiber products. On February 5, 2013, APP announced its Forest Conservation Policy, which included an immediate halt of natural forest clearance across its entire supply chain. [Sources E, F, G] APP also revealed a partnership with the non-profit organisation The Forest Trust, [Source H] which is assisting the company with High Conservation Value (HCV) and High Carbon Stock (HCS) assessments to identify forested areas for protection. TFT worked with APP and Greenpeace to design APP’s Forest Conservation Policy and will be monitoring and reporting on APP’s progress towards achieving its commitments. In addition, APP’s policy specifically welcomes third party observers to verify the implementation – a first for APP and for the industry. [Source I]

In its most recent update on June 5, 2013, APP announced an absolute deadline of August 31, 2013 for all natural forest wood felled prior to February 1, 2013 to be accepted at its pulp mills. Hello again,
I would like to propose a series of edits to the Environmental section which will add clarity and help identify verifiable sources.
First, under the Environmental issues and logging practice section, I suggest three sub headers:
- 1 – Remove subheads for “Deforestation” and “Other” as these are not needed and implied throughout. Instead title the first subsection “NGO & Activist Criticism”.
- 2 – Label the second subheader “Previous Greenpeace Campaigns” for clarity and then have third-level headers for the following which are all related to this subject matter and currently confusing for the reader:
- 2a. Mattel
- 2b. Sumatran Tiger
- 2c. Ramin Logging
- 3 – Create a third subsection for “Operational Criticism” for information on the Yunann Province, Cambodia, Zhejiang Hotels and customer paragraph on Staples, Office Depot, Woolworths Limited.
Next, the information should be arranged chronologically for clarity and accuracy of information presented. Example:
Upon first mention of the FSC, include this sentence (moving it up from Reception):
“In November 2007, Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) formally disassociated itself with APP, rescinding the rights of APP to use its logo.” This statement also needs a source. Consider: FSC Watch: http://www.fsc-watch.org/archives/2008/01/10/FSC_dumps_Asia_Pulp_
Also, broken and invalid links in this section should be addressed. Information with no identifiable source should be removed as I understand Wikipedia requires that content in Articles be backed by credible, third-party references.
I welcome any further suggestions on how to improve this page.

I would like to call attention to some outdated information on the page, and provide new sources of information.
The first in regards to the “Sustainability Roadmap Vision 2020 and Forest Conservation Policy” section. On February 5, 2014, APP launched its Forest Conservation Policy (FCP) Anniversary Report.
Here are four valid sources: Packaging News, February 5, 2014 - http://www.packagingnews.co.uk/news/app-calls-on-stakeholders-to-help-protect-indonesias-forests/#respond Output Magazine, February 6, 2014 - http://www.outputmagazine.com/production-print/business-issues/companies/app-calls-for-further-collaboration-on-deforestation-in-indonesia/ Mongabay, February 5, 2014 - http://travel.mongabay.com/news/2014/0205-app-fcp-event.html Jakarta Post, February 5, 2014 - http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2014/02/05/protecting-forests-economic-growth-go-hand-hand.html
The second is in regards to the “Environmental issues and logging practices: NGO & Activist Criticism” section, fourth paragraph. APP has re-engaged with the Rainforest Alliance.
Here are two valid sources: Environmental Leader, February 10, 2014 - http://www.environmentalleader.com/2014/02/10/rainforest-alliance-peatland-experts-to-evaluate-app-progress/ Rainforest Alliance - http://www.rainforest-alliance.org/upcoming-evaluation-asia-pulp-and-paper
