- The ethnonym is far older than modern history. It gives the notion that the Serbian tribe also inhabited the Vardar river. It could have simply meant Slavs, however, the use of the specific ethnonym is undeniable. Some scholars support that this is the oldest preserved mention of the Serbs in the Balkans. Note that De Administrando Imperio mentioned that a part of the Serbs stayed in Servia, Greece, and that they then moved to the Western Balkans. On this way, they could have settled parts of the Vardar.--Zoupan 00:39, 10 January 2016 (UTC)
