It is originated from the word Ashvini which means the Doctor of the Lords, in Hindu society. Lord Vishnu is also called as "ASHWIN". It is currently a common name in Southern Asia, with variations such as Ashvin, Ashvini, Ashwin, Ashwini and Asvin.

AshvinAshwin – Spelling correction: Ashwin is considered to be one of the name of Lord Vishnu. Mostly Ashwin is used as the month name in Hindu Calendar and Nepali calendar too. ASCII-002 I NotifyOnline 04:52, 1 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
