Opening paragraph is incomprehensible
[edit]It would be nice if someone who actually knows the game and also knows English could rewrite the opening paragraph so that it would make at least some sense. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.249.104.18 (talk) 15:55, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
Rules paragraph is incomprehensible
[edit]It would be nice if someone who actually knows the game and also knows English could rewrite the rules of the games so that it would make at least some sense. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2001:14BA:8EA:3800:216:CBFF:FE8C:B230 (talk) 20:14, 12 April 2016 (UTC)
This entire article is speculation
[edit]This article is pure speculation. All evidence points towards "ashtapada" being the name of the playing board itself and not the name of a game. These rules are entirely speculation based on the uncertainty of the reason for the X-markings on the board. The rules seem to have been derived from Chowka Bowra, likely due to the similar markings on Chowka Bowra boards. There is no ancient description of any such game called "ashtapada".
