Why is this page up?

[edit]

Nearly this entire page is missing the necessary citations and documentation. Examples from a quick read, there may be more:

* "notable for being one of India's first online activists and open source hackers." -- missing citation
* "As one of India's original hackers" -- missing citation
* "In 1993 he co-founded The X Group" -- missing citation
* "His articles and columns in PCQuest and Dataquest magazines" -- the one citation in this section links back to the Perl article that was the citation for his Perl development
* "that resulted in close to a million Linux CD-ROMs being distributed." -- missing citation
* "In pre-Internet India, Ashish created and operated the Primal Scream Bulletin Board System, and created the country's first inter-city Fidonet echo." -- missing citations
* "Soon after the launch of Internet services in India, Ashish co-founded Sense/NET, a very popular ISP, with Vipul Ved Prakash" -- missing citation
* "Prakash as of 2018 serves as a Director of Engineering at Apple.[3]" -- This links to eff.org not to anything about this person as Director of Engineering at Apple
* "In 1999, he was involved with Laissez Faire City, where he developed Laissez Faire City's OpenPGP compatible messaging engine, and also deployed secure wireless links for Laissez Faire City's consultate in Costa Rica." -- missing citations
* "Since 2000, he has been actively involved in various security and privacy related efforts" -- missing citation

Post 1998?

[edit]

Since he obviously didn't die, the subject must have been active with various things post 1998, however the article doesnt reflect those. Could someone add more information about his work, including the Laissez Faire City stuff he was involved with? -- Achitnis 15:59, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Photo?

[edit]

Like many such bio-stubs, this article would benefit tremendously from the addition of a photograph of the subject. Ashish is an Free and Open Source Software person, and is sure to have such a photo available under a suitable license. --Achitnis 19:18, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Note that the current image is literally a palce holder that I have available for Ashish (it *is* him, and was created by him in the 1990s and submitted to me no strings attached along with an article), but a real and/or more recent picture would improve this article considerably. -- Achitnis 19:18, 16 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ashish has now supplied a real picture, so the old one has been removed. Achitnis 20:44, 6 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
