[edit]Ash covered ABBAs Does Your Mother Know? around 1996. This appears to go unmentioned either here or on their official site - perhaps they are embarrassed by it - however, it should be included because if it weren't for that single charting in the UK, very few people would have ever taken any notice of them. Article needs updating to include this. Graham 23:37, 14 August 2005 (UTC)
- Feel free to add it then! -- Chuq 00:46, 15 August 2005 (UTC)
- I would, but I know almost nothing about it - not even sure of the year, let alone month or chart position, etc. Graham 01:48, 15 August 2005 (UTC)
- It didn't "chart" (enter the top 40). their first charting track was Girl From Mars in August 1995. --Kiand 10:15, 22 August 2005 (UTC)
- Does Your Mother Know? was a B-side on the Oh Yeah single. I don't think they're embarassed by it, according to Tim's bio, they're one of his influences. I don't know how you got the idea Does Your Mother Know? was a big hit for the band. DarthInsinuate 14:32, 16 November 2005 (UTC)

yeah, they'd had several medium-big hit singles by the time Oh Yeah came out, and had been Radio 1 darlings since Peel and Chris Morris (yes, chris morris) championed the fuck out of the Petrol singles
- Hmmm, interesting. I assumed it was a hit because it sure seemed to get a lot of radio airplay. Perhaps it stuck in my ear because I knew the song already. The other Ash releases were less 'catchy' in this sense, but OTOH they seemed to be the band everyone was talking about. I guess I put 2 and 2 together and assumed that this track was responsible for that 'buzz'. I stand corrected! Graham 00:38, 25 November 2005 (UTC)
Vietnam or Vietnam Death
[edit]The last edit says Tim and Mark's first band was called Vietnam Death, but from most sources, on the internet at least, it was just called Vietnam. Can anyone provide a source for "Vietnam Death"? --- DarthInsinuate 12:14, 17 February 2006 (UTC)
Toured in 2002?
[edit]I went to a concert featuring Moby and David Bowie back in the summer of '02, and one of the opening bands was called Ash. I don't know if it's the same one or not, but I thought I'd put it out there in case someone else does know. If it was them, that should probably be included in the article. --Icarus 05:50, 11 May 2006 (UTC)

Disappearance
[edit]Is it just me, or have Ash dropped off the face of the planet? After a recent google search all that turned up was their homepage (which doesn't load) and a couple of old interviews. Does anybody know what's going on? They're supposedly playing my Uni this summer and I was trying to find out if it's true or not Juicebarjoseph (talk) 21:48, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
Mark Hamilton (Bassist)
[edit]Mark Alexander Hamilton is the bass guitarist for the Irish rock band Ash. There nicknames are dmh(a reference to Star wars actor Mark Hamil) and Wrecking Ball —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.212.46.221 (talk) 02:30, 5 August 2008 (UTC)
Well, yeah...
[edit]"On 20 January 2006, Charlotte Hatherley left the band after nine years leaving only the original members remaining"
This seems oddly redundant? I mean, who else would be left? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.97.110.64 (talk) 21:37, 15 August 2010 (UTC)
Citation
[edit]I was looking for information regarding Ash, and I found this http://www.music.us/biography/artist/6167/ash.html . I'd be more than happy to paste it all over the article for citations, but I really don't have the time, so can an editor with more time please read the information at that URL and then give the citations accordingly? Thanks. Aleksandar Bulovic' (talk) 18:54, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

Britpop
[edit]Are Ash considered Britpop? They have a very American sound. It would be grateful if someone who is knowledgeable with the era can help. Dean12065 (talk) 01:20, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
- According to Allmusic, they were part of the Britpop scene in the 90's. I also restored the sources for genres. Genres in band articles are to be cited somewhere. If you take them out of the infobox, then state the genres in the prose, followed by the sources. Kokoro20 (talk) 03:05, 26 February 2019 (UTC)
