History

[edit]

lt-wiki says: In 19th century it was the center of gmina Osowiec in Bobruysky Uyezd, Minsk Governorate, Russian Empire in the lands acquired during the Second Partition of Poland.[1] Looks plausible, but I was unable to verify whether it matches the source. In particular, the Geo Dict mentions river Wołotomka, but I dont see any river by the agrotown, neither can I identify a river with this or similar name, nor it sounds as a Polish or Belarusian word. Wołotówka? But this is a populated placename (several of them (Volotovka) in be & ru) - Altenmann >talk 04:46, 23 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
