Arithmetic v reading
[edit]The article says "..... Males constitute 55% of the population and females 45%. Asan Khurd has an average literacy rate of 82%, higher than the national average of 59.5%; with 59% of the males and 41% of females literate. 9% of the population is under 6 years of age."
What does this mean: "the national average of 59.5%; with 59% of the males and 41% of females literate"? These m & f figures must be for Asan Khurd, not for India because 59% and 41% cannot give a mean (59.5) higher than both figures. But then if they are for Asan Khurd they are utterly irreconcilable with 82%. This arithmetical curiosity is to be found in the alleged literacy statistics in several Indian locality articles.--SilasW (talk) 22:22, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Reference to the source given for the population statistics gives AllLit=81% Mlit=87% FLit=74% but leaves the incomprehensible figures unresolved.--SilasW (talk) 13:50, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
