Name Pronunciation

How do you pronounce "Asa"? Until I saw his picture, I thought this was a woman! (Asa sound like a girl name to anyone else?) (This comment was left unsigned, but was left by Meekermariner 07:36, 24 May 2006 (UTC))

It is pronounced Ay-suh, the first "A" sounding like the end of the word "today", and the second "A" sounding like "uh" such as in the word "up". It is a Biblical name [1], and is used as a male name in the Bible. I suppose it could be used as either male or female, but all references I have ever heard are for the previously mentioned male one from the Bible. In the future, please sign your comments. (by putting 4 ~'s at the end of your comment, and it will make it look like mine at the end, with my name and time) (Cardsplayer4life 11:11, 24 May 2006 (UTC))

Sorry, didn't know you had to sign them... Meekermariner 03:10, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

It is ok, not a problem at all, I was just letting you know, fyi. It makes it easier for people that come in the future to see who left what comment. It doesn't matter as much if there are only a couple of people talking, but if there are many people, it can get confusing as to who is saying what. (Cardsplayer4life 23:20, 25 May 2006 (UTC))

Asa Hutchinson.

Descended from?

Is this Asa Hutchinson descended from the famous civil war abolitionist (of Massachusetts and Minnesota) Asa Hutchinson?

A website here about the earlier one: www.geocities.com/unclesamsfarm/asa.htm -jackbrown 12:26, 22 April 2006 (UTC)

Campaign Issues

I've been looking into candidates for the Gubernatorials(unfortunately I can only vote a month after election day when I turn 18), and I can't find alot of neutral sources for either Hutchinson, Beebe, or the third parties. They're scattered in news articles everywhere, but it'd be nice to have a place that has actually analyzed them. --70.178.75.237 23:41, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

You might check the Associated Press. Sometimes this link works (to a map of incumbents and candidates), sometimes not (if not, it shows a map of newspaper websites that are affiliated with the AP: [2]
If the link doesn't work, you can do a google search for a given incumbent:

As for the issues, something like VoteSmart.org, yes? John Broughton 00:36, 24 August 2006 (UTC)

Orphaned references in Asa Hutchinson

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Asa Hutchinson's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

The last of the suggested citations was correct and I added it to the article. —ADavidB 19:03, 3 August 2019 (UTC)
